EU Pledges Support for Armenia’s Future Reforms After Election Results

(MENAFN) Following Armenia’s Sunday elections, the European Union said it is working “as much as possible” to support the country in implementing future reforms, according to the EU foreign policy chief.

Welcoming the outcome, which favored Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Kaja Kallas said on Monday that despite what she described as “heavy Russian pressure,” Armenians “still chose to have a European future.”

“This is a ‘good thing … of course,’” she told reporters in Nicosia under the Greek Cypriot Administration, noting that turnout was strong and vote counting was still ongoing.

“We are trying to help them as much as possible on their future reforms,” she added.

Kallas is currently in the Greek Cypriot Administration for a meeting of EU defense ministers, where discussions are expected to focus on emerging security challenges, strengthening defense readiness, and improving coordinated EU responses to the evolving geopolitical situation.
